Terminology standardization and database standards under a microcontent perspective
By Christian Galinski
From eContent perspective "Microcontent" originally refers to small content entities representing one "idea or concept" – which, besides terminological entries, would comprise also (documentation thesaurus) descriptors, classification classes, (scientific-technical) nomenclature entries, all kinds of (harmonized) coding systems, etc. It should also comprises microcontent entities in other language/communication modalities than written and spoken. Comprehensive content interoperability most likely can be achieved at microcontent level. Terminology standardization is essential for interoperability and this presentation will provide a brief overview of European projects and related initiatives
