Using published content is often essential when collaborating with colleagues. Yet changes to copyright law are affecting the way employees, faculty, staff, and students share information. Do you know how copyright law applies to your day-to-day activities?

If you've ever been puzzled by copyright, join ISKO and Stephen Garfield of Copyright Clearance Center to gain a basic understanding of copyright, learn how to obtain copyright permission, and minimize your exposure to illegal content use. Beneficial as both an initial exposure to copyright, as well as a refresher for those who contend with these issues regularly, this talk is intended to provide a quick, but in-depth look at important concerns surrounding the use of copyright-protected content whether in an academic or business environment.

As usual, there will be time for questions after the talk but if you wish to learn about particular copyright issues please send your query to events@iskouk.org in advance of the event and Stephen Garfield will do his best to address them in his talk.

Stephen Garfield is Vice President, Client Engagement at Copyright Clearance Center (CCC). In this role, Stephen oversees a team of client engagement managers with responsibility for sustaining and expanding thousands of strategic customer relationships. He works closely with CCC clients to identify licensing and content challenges and explore innovative approaches to addressing them. Stephen works with many of the world's leading scientific publishing and research organizations and speaks on issues related to global copyright and licensing, content discovery, publishing workflows, and more.
