Wf4Ever: metadata for Research Objects

Research Objects are aggregations of resources that are brought together to support a computational scientific study or investigation. The aggregation has an identity along with a collection of annotations which provide additional information about the bundle or its aggregated resources. These resources could be, for example data or results, methods employed or the people involved in the investigation.

The Wf4Ever (“Workflow for ever”) project has defined a collection of vocabularies and services that use Research Objects to facilitate the use of scientific workflows in experiments. This infrastructure supports the curation and preservation of workflows, tracking issues of decay and quality. Metadata is represented using standards from the W3C stack of semantic web technologies, along with community vocabularies such as ORE and the Open Annotation Model.
